Fantasy Football 2011: 1st pick in 12 person Snake draft: Gates (SD) 3rd round pick?

  • Is it a smart pick to get Gates as my 3rd round pick? 2nd round pick I will pick the best WR availalble at the time?? Any input would be appreciated

    While Gates is an incredible player, and a number 1 TE, It's smart to go for, as a first pick selection, the best RB's available. Unless the people in your league are way to into TE's Gates probably wont go until 4th or 5th. My rule is unless theres a string of TE's being drafted, don't look into it until you have 2 solid RB's and WR's.

definatly not my son, gates is currently on the PUP list(physicaly unable to perform) this still stems from his foot issue he had at the end of last season, so if he cant get that sorted in the offseason he sure as hell wont get it sorted during the season......hit up another elite wideout in the 3rd then target a witten or dallas clark in the 4th......keep owen daniels in your mind too.....i have heard he has been rolling in camp so get him in the later rounds....... all the best and goodluck..... ps...please tell the rest of your league you guys should wait to do your draft.....wait till the sunday before the season starts, that way you know who is hurt and rosters will be set.....it would suck to take adrian peterson first pick then he breaks his leg in practice......be wise..... take care

I think that's a little early. End of the 3rd perhaps. But you should still be able to chose a very solid WR2 or RB2 at that spot, or go for one of the top tier QB's.

Hell no. Too injury prone. The steal of the draft this year will be Owen Daniels. He's healthy and been having a great camp. You can get him much later than Gates and it's possible you'll end up getting more production. GOOD LUCK!!
