could be either brushes or belt depending on whether it goes round at all, some models will manage a wash cycle with the brushes hanging on the springs but stop when it comes to the spin cycle,my advice is get a repair man in if its the brushes as its not just a simple old ones out and new ones in,the armature needs to be checked and cleaned,if new brushes are placed on a dirty or worse still rough armature where brushes have been arking then it will shred them and cause early failure of the brushes or even worse the motor itself.

Get the Haynes Manual on repairing washing machines. It will make you into an expert after two nights reading

It could possibly be the lid safety switch. There is a pin on the lid that goes into a hole in the top of the washing machine where it contacts a switch to indicate the lid is closed. If the pin is broken off or the switch is out of position or defective it will not spin. ...Good Luck...

i agree with mishnbong probably brushes but it could be the belt. if the motor is spinning (can you hear it) then it is the belt if not its the brushes.call the manufacturer or look in the yellow pages for washing machine spares/repairs but much cheaper to just buy the parts and fix it yourself.... fairly easy got to take the back off inside you should see the belt immediatly and the motor will be at the bottom. the brushes are on one end of the motor one on either side they should just screw off and screw on. good luck

Get into the back and ckeck the tension on the drive belt it may be OK on wash but too loose for spin. (Belt goes from motor to drum)

If the motor's runnning but it ain't spinning it's the belt. Easy to get hold of & easy to replace.

the brushes have gone. costs between £15-£30 for new depending on model

mishnbong

get a new belt for it..the belt has streached you may get a cycle from it but not a spin or empty cycle

check to make sure that none of the pipes are kinked up also check the outlet at the front of the machine below the door this is where alot of crap gathers and can effect the machine,
