Can one go for an MBA after completing an MTech, or is it better to do it straight after BTech?

Anyone can do anything in India. Dhoni can score 200+ in test century so why can't Mtech guy for MBA !! You can definitely go for MBA however don't go for just adding of degrees behind your name. Think before taking such a foolish decision .

Thanks for A2A. Well, do mtech if you are passionate, but the idea of doing MBA just coz you can start off with a high post is wierd. You need experience for higher technical post. Talking of eligibility, you can do MBA after Mtech.

Well, let us look at this decision from a strategic point of view. Doing MBA immediately after graduation is absurd! Though you may choose to disagree with the above statement, it is the harsh truth. How can you be trusted with a management level position when you never had the opportunity to work and learn together in a team? How can a company hiring you trust you with the task of leading a team when you never have never proved yourself to be competent. For MBA to add value, work experience is a must. This is the sole reason that most reputed institutions all over the world offering MBA programs, have work experience as one of the criteria for admission into their programs. Just think how much your learning would be if you can relate to your previous experience of working in a team, the problems you encountered etc. It would surely help in deeper understanding of the program and adds much more value to you as an individual and the company hiring you. Moreover, immediately after graduation, you are fresh with all the concepts you have learnt and thus joining a job at this point of time will be more beneficial to you as you could gain first hand experience in your field, and then make a much more matured decision of pursuing MBA. One of the major reasons that forces people to do MBA after graduation is their technical incompetence and their inability to secure a decent job, though people may also have other reasons :P .   To make it clear, under no circumstances doing MBA immediately after graduation will lead to higher technical positions within an organization!   Prove your competence in a technical job first! Enhance your career with MBA later ;)

Megha , Definitely you can go to MBA after your M.Tech degree but it is pointless. If you want some technical work in your field you can do it just after your B.Tech degree , there is no need to pursuing M.Tech degree. There is no need of so many degrees behind you name . I think it would be better to you to do job in technical field just after your B.Tech degree and after getting some years of experience , go to MBA. You can go to MBA just after your B.Tech degree but as you want some years of technical expiernce so do that and go to MBA after that. ALL THE BEST!!!

If you want to do business & want to know business side of technical work then, yes MBA will help you in-terms of knowledge and contacts. About job in company, if you think there is a cap in your career growth then, MBA will help... Part time MBA is a good idea or executive MBA is a good idea....
