How can i get an old water stain off a painted wall?

    Paint the stain with oil based paint (gloss) this will seal in stain - give it two coats of gloss, leave to dry, then paint with emulsion. Works for me everytime. x

soak the stain in clear vinegar and sponge out with clean water .it will draw out the stain making it easier to cover.

You will never get rid of the stain unless you spray or paint over with a stain sealer which is ok if your walls are white otherwise you will have to match in or repaint whole room.

Primer, primer, primer..... Most people overlook priming when it is the most important part of painting. Two coats of paint is not the same. prime and take a paint chip to walmart and have the color mached and just repaint the bad spots.

You can try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" found at Wal-Mart and is really inexpensive.

The stain needs to be covered with an oil based paint. Undercoat, gloss or satinwood. Then emulsion over when dry, at least 2 coats.
