  • Any ideas on how to remove or will I need new carpet.

  • Answer:

New carpet - hope you have insurance.....it will bleach out the colour and eat through the fibres. Keep all skin away....get some sodium bicarbonate to neutalise it.....baking powder any alkaline substance. Lots of water to flush it out too...keep pets and children off....

New Carpet - battery acid cannot be cleaned and it will eat through the carpet. Also, you do not want to touch that stuff.

if you're writing about it, good job you're insured it is too late to do anything except replace it...and maybe some of the subfloor, too.

If you're quick enough, you can dump a lot of water onto the spillage to dilute the acid but you are well past that now. All you can do is watch the stuff eat a hole in your carpet. Next time, put the thing in a bowl when you bring it into the house.
