What would be a reasonable house price?

Is $20 a reasonable price for cleaning the whole house?

  • i have a 2 story house and my mom pays me $20 for cleaning it is that a reasonable price???

  • Answer:

It depends what you mean by clean. If you just straighten it up, sure its a good price. But if you mean wash the floors, clean the windows, etc, you're getting way underpaid.

Well, if I hired someone to clean my house I would definitly pay a lot more but maybe that is all she can afford to pay you? Maybe you could find out how much a real cleaning service would cost and NICELY show her and try to ask her for more to do it. How old are you? If you are a young teen then I would be happy with whatever is offered cause I know plenty of kids who dont get paid to do chores (sucks but it happens). If you are over 18, decide wether its worth the time and effort for $20.

Do you pay rent for living there?

If you have someone come in and just do the regular cleaning, like vacuum, dust, clean bathroom, wash windows and floors, at leat $12.50 an hour. Bigger jobs like wall/ceiling washing, cleaning the basement or garage or carpet scrubbing should require almost professional fees plus you rent the carpet cleaner.

AND...........you're room and board and clothes???? Do your parents pay for all of that too???? Then, yea, it's a fair price.

IF you were a professional cleaner or a neighbor's kid no, 20 bucks wouldn't cover it, but seeing as it's your mom's house I'd say that 20 is reasonable, I only get $5 a week even though I clean often

That depends upon how good of a job you do in cleaning the whole house. Maybe that is all she can afford or maybe that is all she feels you deserve for the quality of your cleaning. For professional house care in most of the US people pay about $20 - $30 per HOUR for house cleaning which amounts to around $60 to $180 for a typical 2-story home. The range in cost being due to how dirty the house, your geographical location within the US, and allowing 3 - 6 hours to clean the entire house. However, that again is for professional quality cleaning. If you do a crappy job then $20 is probably about right. If you thoroughly clean the entire house and not half-@SS it then $20 is pretty low compared to what someone would have to pay for a cleaning agency. Also, you have to consider that part of the mess within the house belongs to yourself and thus you are being paid to clean up your own mess at least in part.

For you yes. Actually you should do it for free.

Yes $20 is very reasonable considering that you live there too. Do you have an opportunity to earn $20 elsewhere? If not, earn the money, save it, and buy something nice for yourself that have always wanted - a computer, a new bike, whatever. Over time you can ask for a raise once you prove you do a good job, ask for $30 in 6 months.

scotty

yes. she lets you live there. i would want to clean it for free.
