How do you set in a universal remote?

Please can anyone tell me how to set up a RCA universal remote control?

  Step 1: Turn on the component you want to program. Step2 Press and release the component button on your remote that corresponds to the component you want the remote to operate (TV, VCR, etc.). The illuminated ON-OFF button will turn on and remain on. Step3 Press both the component and the ON-OFF buttons. The illuminated ON-OFF button will turn off, and then will come back on. Step4 Release both buttons after the ON-OFF button turns back on. The button should remain illuminated. Step5 Press and release the PLAY button. If the component does not respond after five seconds, continue to press the PLAY button every five seconds until the component turns off. Step6 Press and release the REVERSE button when the component turns off, then wait to see if the component turns on again. Step7 Press and release the STOP button to save the new code. Tips & Warnings: * Each time you press the PLAY button in Step 5, the ON-OFF button blinks ten times and a list of 10 codes is sent to your component. This process continues until all of the code lists have been searched. If the component has not turned off after all codes have been searched, the ON-OFF button blinks four times, turns off, and the Auto Code Search is exited. * If you do not press the STOP button at the end, the new code will not be saved. The list was found in a PDF manual for an old RCA VCR. Steps 1. Remove the battery cover on the back of the remote and look for the model number ("RCR8153603P" for instance) 2. Consult list of TV codes for your model via: http://support.rcaaccessories.com/index.html (or search online) 3. Press and hold the TV button on the remote. LED will stay "ON". 4. Enter the code for your brand of TV into the remote while continuing to hold the TV button down. LED will go out during number entry and turn back on when the last digit is entered. 5. Release the TV button. LED will flash and go out if number is entered sucessfully, or flash 4 times if it detects an error. 6. Press Channel up or down to see if this has worked. Steps Codesearch 1 Turn on the component you want to program. 2 Press and hold both the TV/DVD/ect button and the power button untill the light comes on and stays on 3 Press the play button every 5 seconds until the device turns off. A bank of ten codes is being sent each time. 4 Press the rewind/reverse button to see if it turns off/on again. Wait 2 seconds and press again until it turns back on.You may have to do this up to 10 times until it searches through the bank of ten codes sent. 5 Press and hold the stop button until the light goes off. This saves the code.
