If the world were to share a common language, which of the existent languages would you choose to serve the purpose, and why?
-
Even if you might not want a global common language, for ethical, historical, political, and personal reasons (all very valid and important), which existent language would you choose to serve as the global common language if you had to? I'm more interested in choices based on features of the languages rather than facts about their present prevalence and ease of transmission, &c.
