    Sanibel Island/Clearwater Beach area is a wonderful place. My ex-girlfriends mom/dad lived at Dan's Island in a condo and they sold at $560,000. Most condos have "condo association fees" used for overall upkeep of the building, pools, landscaping, insurance, security, etc. Their monthly dues were $600, yes a month. It is great that you at a young age have a goal in mind. You are going to have a great future ahead and at this point in your life continue your education through college. Enjoy life to the fullest, see the world, and stay positive. You must be educated, financially OK, and establish yourself in society before getting married and having a family as well. Too many young people out of high school marry, have kids, and forever remain financially poor. Take care of yourself first.

take the easy route.. go to your local realestate office and ask to look at there MLS listing for FL, if they do not have one order it from the local library.. its free, then use a broad range (price wise) add the cost of living increase for that area, and the projected growth (check online with that state, city and find out the projected development and population projectioons, that state has a lot of income from the retired community moving into the area... you are young yet and you colud save in the form of safe series bonds, city/state bonds are good and safe also... look for a return around 5-9% yearly and you should do well... another thing find property that is not yet developed yet and try to invest in a piece (one acre/lot at a time) this should give you a nice cushion for inflaction )
