What sort of allergy do you have? Is it serious? How much do you like calamari? My aunt has an allergy to shellfish: she gets big headaches and pretty ill afterward. She finds that when she takes an allergy pill (such as Benadryl) beforehand, the side effects/allergic reactions are reduced significantly. Of course, I can only speak for my aunt and not for you. Your best bet would be to see an allergist to find out exactly what you're allergic to, and the extent to which you suffer from these allergies.

I too am I the same boat. I cannot eat shrimp or whiting. But I can eat lobster, crab and I love calamari. Your allergy may have something to do the iodine level. I became allergic to shrimp in my late teens. I know it is weird in reference to the whole allergy thing, but always remember to carry a Bendryl or Epi pen depending on the severity of your allergies.

what you are actually allergic to is iodine. Research the iodine content of calamari. If you are, I'm so sorry for you, coz I love the stuff.
