Just give them your sort code and account number and the name on the account. The only thing they can do with this information is pay money into your account. Do not give them your card number ever. Hope that helps Go with the flow DON'T TALK RUBBISH, THE ONLY THING YOU COULD MAYBE DO WITH THIS INFORMATION IS SET UP A DIRECT DEBIT. EVEN THEN WHEN THE PERSON REALIZES THE BANK CAN RECLAIM THE DIRECT DEBIT

all you need is First and Last name and your date of birth then they go into the bank that you bank with and tell them that and they will look you up and put it on your account

I live in Canada, and get payments from people via Interac Transfer.

ASSUMING you mean the 6 digit Sort Code (xx-xx-xx) and Account Code (6 8 digits) and NOT THE 16 DIGITS OFF THE FRONT OF YOU BANK CARD (or anything off the back) .. then it's perfectly safe .. An 'established' company /organisation can use the 'Direct Debit' system to take money .. (this is how Clarkson tripped up .. he published his bank details and someone gave them to a charity who then 'debited' a donation from his account :-) ) FORTUNATELY, for him, under the 'Direct Debit Guarantee', the Bank has to pay you back if a direct debit is 'miss-used' ..

They require only the details that are printed on each and every cheque that is written. It's perfectly safe.

Millions of such transactions are done every day - that is how salaries, pensions and benefits, gas and electricity bills, council tax, etc, etc, are paid. They will need your name, sort code, and account number - nothing else. If they ask for card numbers, PINs or secutiy numbers do not give them. With complete strangers who you do not know, it may be more sensible to ask if they can send you a cheque.

You can give someone your account number and sort code to pay money into your bank. They will not be able to use these details to get anything from your account. Just don't give anyone the long digit on the front, the three digit security number on the back or anything else apart from account number and sort code. I have given my account number and sort code to people so they can pay money into my account and i also have my landlords account number and sort code so that i can pay my rent into their account.

I honestly don't know if what you are asking is safe. I have someone who is buying a car from me and making monthly payments. I told him my account number and he deposits cash into Bank of America on the fifth of each month. I don't see why he couldn't schedule an electronic deposit without worry

never give anyone on internet your bank details even your bank. if your bank needs your details it will call you into the bank. don't give details on line.
