    pour hydrogen peroxide over it. this is hygienic it will kill the germs, and it is also not "toxic". obviously you shouldn't drink the stuff, but what i mean is many people use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash, so it's not going to kill you to put it on your toothbrush. or, get a new one. or boil it in water.

Microwave it on high for 10 seconds, it kills all bacteria and sterilizes the brush, doctor recommended.

Get a cup of rubbing alcohol and let is soak in there over night or for how ever long you want it to hoped i helped

It isn't actually an issue... the herpes virus that causes cold sores is very fragile outside the body and only survives for a couple of hours max. Any herpes on your brush is long gone by now! If you are paranoid, use Milton or baby sterilizing tablets in some water in a glass and soak the head of the brush in it. I like to do that anyway because I always think of all the bacteria toothbrushes must be covered in.
