Is there any way to heal a mouth ulcer (canker sore) faster?

Try to prevent biting your lips/inside mouth area. Use mouth rinses. Also what i use is oragel type oral pain reliever to temporarily stop the pain. Every night rinse with hydrogen peroxide mixed with half water until it goes away.

I have been told that some canker sores are a viral infection that usually occurs when the surface of the mouth is injured, abraised, or damaged, such as eating something sour, too hot, brushing too hard, ect. Some poeple even get canker sores as a side effect of certain medications. Another thing I have head of is it can also be an allergic reaction to the ingrediant sodium lauryl sulfate in your toothpaste that make the bubbles when you brush. Try using a toothpaste that does NOT contain sodium lauryl sulfate . I use Rembrandt for canker sores and it works great. There in no foaming which is a little weird to get used to.

Acid causes mouth ulcers. Your system can be neutralized most quickly by disolving 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drinking twice a day. It also helps to brush your teeth with baking soda. Your body requires 8 glasses of clean water, every single day which also helps regulate your ph levels. Your body should be at the ph level of 7.3 to 7.5 and to test yourself you can buy ph test strips at your local pet store. The acid vs. alkaline balance in your body is extremely important to your overall health and may be the main cause of all disease. Recurrent ulcers could be due to certain times when your body's immunity level becomes low. Prevention is difficult. It is almost impossible to avoid ulcers totally. Warm salt water rinses help to reduce infection and aid in healing. Chlorhexidine mouthrinses also aid in healing. Povidone iodine rinses also aid in faster resolution. Low concentration steroid creams, like Kenalog or Orocort, containing triamcinolone acetonide, help to relieve pain and aid healing. For localised ulcers, an expensive but possible option is low level laser therapy, using a defocused low energy laser beam over the ulcer site. This probably won't help, but I thought I'd commiserate. I've had them since I was a kid, too, and the key triggers for me are stress (of course) and any sharp object (like the corner of a Dorito!) inadvertently scratching the inside of my mouth. Currently, I use something called Dr. Tichenor's soaked onto the end of a Q-Tip and hold it against the sore until I can't stand it anymore. Anyway... One time I had one at the back of my mouth (throat?) that I had somehow scraped open, and it wouldn't stop bleeding, so I went to the ER. The doctor at the ER had what looked like a really long cotton swab, but instead of a cotton ball at the end, it was a small bit of something volatile. When he placed it against the sore, it chemically reacted to the liquid contact and started to "burn" or cauterize the spot. The doctor said that he actually used this to seal up his sores! I'm not sure this is a good practice to keep up regularly, but it was sure interesting...

The last time I had a mouth sore I picked up the Walmart brand equalvilent of one of those mouth creams that are made specifically for cold and canker sores. My sore cleared up within two days! The store brand is alot cheaper than the name brands and you can find them in the dental care aisle of any store.

They sell these white pencils to stop bleeding when you shave called styptic pencil. It is caustic touch it to the cancer sore. Well I did it when I was dating and got them sometimes. I think they are contageous, because when I didn;t date her, Inever had them again.

Amosan by Oral B-It is available over the counter. helped me with cankers and when I got my tongue pierced. Use Amosan up to 4 times daily, after meals and before bedtime or as directed by a dentist or physician. Dissolve contents of one envelope in one ounce (two tablespoons) of water as hot as can be tolerated. Use immediately in as many mouthfuls required to use up all of the solution. Swish solution around your mouth and between teeth for at least 30 seconds per mouthful and expel. DO NOT SWALLOW. For best results, do not take food or other liquid for 20 minutes after using Amosan. Children under 12 should be supervised in the use of this product. Consult a dentist or physician for use by children under 6 years of age.

Zilactin is good for mouth ulcers. It forms a film over the sore so you don't feel any pain when eating hot or spicy food. It doesn't heal it any faster, but it keeps the damn thing from hurting so bad.
