Whats the difference between a magnet school and a normal school?

I had several friend who attended magnet schools and they have enjoyed the fact that those schools focus heavily on specific subjects like Math & Science or Art & literature, etc. While you really get to learn what it is that you want, they felt that they did not get a very diverse education at those schools. At your age (middle school), most people don't really know what they want out of life, so I wouldn't recommend it. However, if you do know what you want to focus on in life, the appropriate magnet school will give you a head start! Good luck!

A magnet school is usually a school that provides more instruction in a certain area. I am a teacher in a mddle school that has two different magnet programs. One is Pre-Law and the other is Pre- Med. They are designed for students thinking about a career in law or politics or in medicine. Some of the other programs in my area are: perfoming arts, journalism, science & technology, and marine science. You need to find out what the magnet theme is and decide if it will fit with your future career choice.
