    Google's primary popularity is as a search engine. It is more powerful than Yahoo! Because Google has more power, it has attracted more popularity. Google has done many things first, among them was including satellite imagery in its maps section. Yahoo just added that capability recently. In terms of utility and quality of search, I think Yahoo! is better and in terms of customer services and enhancements. For too many years, Google had just the white screen with no home page, and I did not like that. Yahoo! doesn't censor any of the things you mentioned.
