Medical Degree or Law Degree?

  • Should I get a law degree or a medical one? My mother's a nurse, and I love to help people, really good student. Most of my family wants me to be a lawyer, and that was actually my ...show more

  • Answer:

You should figure out what you want to do, and then you should pursue that occupation or career. What your family wants shouldn't be the deciding factor, no matter how well meaning they might be. Pick a career/occupation that challenges you to be your best, and which you find satisfying. You'll be working at something for most of your adult life. It should make you happy, and it should provide you with the means to live a decent life. You have plenty of time to figure out what that might be, and no one else can do it for you.

It really depends on what your passions are. You should research the careers and see which ones suite you the best (don't focus on only being a doctor or lawyer---expand your search). It happened to me, and I ended up having a passion for a field I never thought about (Pharmacy). good luck

What do you think about when you first wake up in the morning: being a lawyer or being a doctor? If you don't really have a passion for what you are studying, especially with larger and longer degrees, you are destined to fail or at the very least, be miserable. Do what you love and ignore everyone else.

can you handle blood and guts? can you stand up in a court room full of people and debate? these are the questions you should be asking. I always loved law. I also love cars. i chose cars because it was "easier"... i wish i had gone to law school. You could also do both. become a lawyer that specializes in the medical field. i.e. hospital lawyer, or injury lawyer....do what makes YOU happy.
