Nursing vs engineering?

I think engineering school is not only harder to get into, but harder to get through. Engineering school, in general, weeds people out VERY EARLY, but if you happen to be female (like me), and you can do math, go for engineering. Much better money for a 4-year degree, and MANY more possible careers/fields for engineers....it's like getting your ticket punched: employers believe if you made it through engineering school, you are resourceful, you have perseverence, you are calm in a crisis, etc., etc., etc. And if you have a personality and can write as an engineer--you will write your own ticket!!!!!

They are both challenging. Assuming you are considering both career paths, I think the better question is which one is better for you rather than which is harder to get into. Nursing requires a much different skill set and level of human interaction than engineering. Do you really want to be around all those people helping them on a person to person basis? Or would you rather deal with technical mathematics and designing building and things like that and less person to person interaction? There is such a significnat difference between the two professions that I'd recommend you take some time to figure out what it is you want to do first before committing to either one. Maybe a general liberal arts education is the best thing for you until you get greater clarity on this issue.

Engineering school. I think in part because there is such a desperate need for nurses and there is more of a willingness to "coach" students to get where they need to be. So if you enter a nursing school and still have to catch up your skills the nursing school will help you, where the engineering schools tend to just fail you and let you figure it our yourself. Since the nursing schools are prepared to help students through, they are more willing to accept people who might need some help.

If you're the kind of person who has what it takes to be a nurse can usually get acepted, but If you want to make more money with less stress, go with enginering school.

Nursing usually requires a minimum GPA to get in and stay in...for obvious reasons, we don't want low GPA's attending us when we are sick. Engineering classes, in my experience, just require you to pass.

nursing is very competitive these days, most engineering schools are in need of applicants, so definitely nursing is harder.

Please......do us all a favor and not study nursing if your main goal is which is easier to get into, sweetie. You have to be a special person and it does not appear that you have what it takes.

It really depends of what you aptitude is. For me nursing school is hard enough. I have no clue about Engineering school. Also keep in mind that every single thing the person above me just said about engineering can just as easily apply to nursing.
