How long does it take to get your master degree in medical science?

How does one earn a master's degree after bachelor's?

  • Let's say somebody gets a bachelor's degree in history. Can that person get a master's degree in something else like political science? How long do master's degree take?

  • Answer:

Most masters programs will admit graduates from other disciplines, but you may have to take some pre-requisites. For instance, if you graduated in history and wanted political science for an MA, you might need to take 3-4 political science courses before starting the master's program. Some programs allow you the first semester to take these pre-reqs and then go into the regular courses. A masters degree is usually 2 years, but that can vary. If you go the thesis route, it depends on when you complete your thesis.

Apply to a graduate school. Yes. My brother just finish a bachelor's degree in anthropology, but is going to graduate school for law. Master's degree can take anywhere from 2 years to more than 5. It's really difficult to earn your masters.

Master's Degrees are considered graduate level degrees. You would have to apply to a graduate program at a university to obtain that degree. Typically graduate degrees take three full-time years, but may take longer depending on the thesis or degree requirements.

yes they can. My Bachelor's was in Sociology and my masters is in Accounting. You just have to apply to graduate school. Just hope you had good grades when you did your undergrads.

It depends; some masters programs have no specific coursework requirements (like MBA and MLS); others require significant background in the field (math, engineering, and science). Look up a few programs you're interested in applying to - they'll list the requirements on their application site. The typical masters degree takes 2 years; if you're writing a thesis, it might take 3.
