An Undergraduate is a student working towards their Bachelor's Degree. A Graduate student is one working towards a Master's degree. A Master's degree can not be achieved without a Bachelor's degree.

A graduate student is studying for their Masters or PhD degree which is a higher degree and a more specialized degree. But yuo have to get a bachelors degree first before you can go to graduate school.

An undergraduate is someone who hasnt yet completed their bachelor degree (usually 3-5 years) This is the first step. When the graduate they are now called a graduate not an undergraduate and they can go on to do honours or masters and even phd level study. hope that helped =)
