How do you define great customer service?

    customer service has been the downfall of the USA. Its because noone seems to see the need to actually do what they tell the customer they are going to do. ESPECIALLY OVER THE PHONE! ever wonder why your cell phone bill is still screwed up the next month after you called customer service and the person on the other end told you that they would fix it? Its because people dont see the need to ACTUALLY do something like work IN AMERICA, after all if the irrate customer calls back what are the chances of them getting in touch with the same agent again? and we all wonder WHY when we call customer service that we get someone who is still learning to speak english... I must quit now before I have a heart attack... you have gotten me mad all over again thinking of the poor excuse for customer service here in US.... sigh

Be direct without being pushy. Know what you're trying to sell/promote well enough to answer reasonable questions. Don't be flippant. Don't inject personal opinion. Smile and respond courteously and let me know your company will stand behind the product. Make me feel like I'm a valued customer.

my idea of great customer service : when I go in to a store I am greeted a "hello", I am asked if I need help finding anything one time and if I say, 'no' then they don't ask again (unless I look REALLY lost!), It does not take long to wait in line to try things on if at a clothing store, I am run up @ the cash register in a fast, friendly pace. I am not hounded by people asking me if I need credit cards or gift cards or lipgloss or socks, just so they can make there plan. I want the employees to act as if they genuinly care about what I am buying, I dont want to be just another body in the store that they are trying to convert in to a sale. is this too much to ask for??!?! PS: I hate those store that harass you about credit cards :(
