  • Answer:

Sounds like those files are corrupted on your iPhone. Try uninstalling them and reinstalling them from your computer. To do this: Uncheck them in iTunes on your computer, then sync. Then recheck them in iTunes on your computer, and sync again. If that doesn't fix them, the files on your computer are corrupted, and you're hosed and will have to rebuy them, or whatever.

I had the Original iPod and it did that. Is it only the Purchased ones? I had to plug my iPod into my library regularly to be able to play them. It recently broke so I am wondering if maybe it was breaking when that happened. So maybe the same thing broke.

maybe the song file is the wrong format. e.g quicktime, windows media. etc

It might be a corrupt song. Ensure it's the correct format. Download another copy of the song and see if it works if you put it on the iPhone. Then you will know it's an encoding problem.
