Is Organic Chemistry really as hard as people make it out to be?

Have you done ok in the Chemistry classes that you've taken previously? I took my high school's basic chemistry course that all students took and then took our Advanced Chemistry class (optional honors class). I did well in those courses in high school and as a nursing major in college had to take one semester of chemistry, one of microbiology and two semesters of A&P (anatomy and physiology). Our Chemistry class was an Gen Ed (not specifically focused on O-Chem) but we worked up to some organic for the last 4-6 weeks of the semester. I didn't have any trouble with the organic chemistry, but I had classmates who did. Typically the ones who struggled were the ones that had trouble from the beginning, so I think if you've done ok with general chemistry courses you'll be fine in building on what you already know when you take organic chemistry. I took organic last year and yes it is a tough class. There is just so much to learn with so many different scenarios, but if you study everyday and keep on top of it, then it won't be as bad as people make it out to be, but never slack off and get behind. What makes it so tough is learning all the mechanisms and how to synthesize a certain product and what reagents are needed to do all of that. But like I said just study all the time and I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck!
