How much is snowmobile insurance?

My insurance card does not state I have Comp and Collision on my snowmobile policy, yet my agent says i do?

  • My card states "The coverage provided by the policy meets the minimum liability limits prescribed by law". A Bodily injury/proprety damage liability L250. What does that ...show more

  • Answer:

That's right. An insurance card is NOT a policy - it's just evidence of state required minimum liability coverage. It won't list any "extra" coverages you might have, which would include collision and comprehensive. You have to go to the policy declarations page, to verify your collision and comp coverages. Odds are, it means you have $250,000 of bodily injury and property damage coverage - but you can check with your agent to be sure.

the details of the policy are rarely on the card. it should be spelled out clearly in the policy documents. The card is to prove insurance and provide contact info and policy numbers in case you have an incident while on the road/trails.

The policy is correct. The broker is an idiot.

The L stands for comprehensive and collision. The A is liability in case you hurt someone or do damage to someone else's property. But the L coverage is the answer to your question. And, your L coverage has a $250 deductible on it. Liability is the A coverage and has no deductible.

Minimum insurance does not include comprehensive or collision. The L stands for liability. Comp/ Collision increases the premium cost immensely because it is the coverage that pays for damage and upset. Read your policy, not your card.Anything your agent says verbally, means nothing.

Most ID cards I see do not mention anything about physical damage. They are only used to evidence Liability coverage, which is the only coverage anyone else (other than your bank if financed) cares about.

Why don't you simply ask your insurance carrier??

the yearly bill you get in the mail tells you,,, not an insurance card.
