yes you can fail if there is no need for what you are selling I think that a typewritter salesman would fail in this day and age make sure that you can transfer your products usefulness to people

You won't be able to sell the product unless it is a product that is desirable. Remember the four P's of marketing. Product, Price, Placement, Promotion. You can control the promotion and perhaps placement as a sales person. But you can't control the product. If it is lousy, it won't sell......period.

If the product is no good, your sales ability doesn't matter. If you can't sell a good product, you either lack the passion or you don't have the right approach. Only you can tell witch is the case. The fact you have names for your methods lead me to believe you approach is at least part of the problem. If you have a good product that you truly believe in, the rest should take care of itself. I particularly hate calls that start with 'this is not a sales call'. They never get another word out.

Yes, you can fail at sales. It takes lots of time & effort, in addition to passion, and a halfway decent product.

Failure in sales may be a new standard; since people hate cold calling and become totally irritated with those who persistently call back. I just hang up when I here that annoying sales pitch begin, but I tend to watch commercials for the same products. Try advertising in other ways it may help your sales.

Sales I have found is a numbers game. The more people you work with or contact, the more your odds are that you will get a sale. You need to be astute enough to let go of the peole who are not buying or committing to you and work diligently with the people who are taking the necessary steps to buy. If the other people in your company are not successful at selling the product that you sell then maybe it is a problem with the product. You need to sell a product that is necessary and has wide appeal. Sales is one of the few jobs that you have the potential to make a significant income but it is also a job that you can just have a run of no sales. You need to look at the big picture after a year or so and see if your effort has produced measurable results. If it hasn't then perhaps it is time to move on.

Nobody will care about your skills or talents if you aren't able to bring in sales. if you don't sell anything, you're as good as useless. But then again, if you are as good as you sell yourself to be, then failure isn't an option.
