What are nursery products?

What are some Indian products that are world class? (Do read the details, its important)

  • First of all, a disclaimer: 1) I am not against foreign products and do not doubt their quality 2) I am not politically motivated and have no aspirations to run rallies on streets voicing my opinions 3) I am just a common Indian working at a software company like most people my age 4) I just want to see India, my country developing faster than it is currently 5) This is not a post discouraging foreign investments in India I was at my previous job when one day I received a forwarded mailer stating things like a)     Manufacturing cost of the dark brown soft drinks we all enjoy is 2% of their retail price b)     Forgot the rest …. :p   Well, I myself choose Coke over all other drinks. I had a hard time finding the right shampoo for my hair until I realized Head and Shoulders suits me best. I cannot use BSNL mobile as my primary network because it doesn’t work so well; I have to use Vodafone. But i do use Dabur Promise toothpaste and a lot of other Indian products. The point is – one should not hold prejudices against foreign items. I don’t recommend shifting completely to Indian items. However, I do recommend people play whatever small role they can in inducting Indian products to their lifestyle.   The standard thought that comes to everyone’s mind is what difference will a single man’s commitment make? Trust me it will. After this post, even if only a 1000 individuals in a 1.2 billion strong country get my point it’ll be enough. Your contribution will be to Indian companies and someday it will make a difference. Indian companies getting more revenues will enable them to introduce lower prices and may bring down inflation someday when the economy improves.    While there are some products that we cannot do without, I will point out some good Indian ones that are world class.   -- Ever tried Dabur’s Promise or Meswak toothpaste? Trust me their flavor is far better than the Colgates’ and Close Ups’ standard white or gel flavors we have been used to since generations. Moreover, Promise is extremely affordable too. -- Try Godrej’s revamped Cinthol range. Their talc is the best and its strong smell works as good as a deo throughout the day. The Cinthol shower gels have a classy feel too. --  Dermi Cool prickly heat powder really soothes your senses once you use it after a bath. -- The Fiama Di Wills range of products is another example of great quality from ITC -- Park Avenue range of clothing and consumer products such as Deos are lovely -- Raymond Suitings – a class apart! -- Bose sound systems are famous all over the world (though i can only dream of owning them :p)   While I am a big fan of Coke, I have completely shifted toPromise toothpaste and try to use Cinthol products regularly. This is only because I have begun to like these products and they suit me.  Just bought a Park Avenue deo and loving it! This is all you need to do. Just try. And if something doesn’t suit you, shift to your old product again! :-) Would be great if Quorans can point out more products i can try out :-)
