one of the consumer associations posted numerous letters and parcels with various amount of cash and valuables .none of the cash letters ever arrived and only high end goods didn't get through( only cheap stuff arrived) so clearly it is an organized system within the post office

Most of the time it is for insurance purposes to cover value of your parcel if lost or stolen, nothing to worry about, I get asked every time and am told that it is "company policy"

All they can ask you is, is there anything valuable Thats all nothing beyond that. He's probably gonna steal it. I hope you did special delivery for the package that guarantees items upto £500.
