How To Convert Pdf To Autocad?

AutoCad: Can you convert DWG files to PDF just using autocad? or do you need another program?

  • I have AutoCad LT and need to convert to a PDF. Can you do that in Cad? if not what program should i get(least expensive)? Thanks.

  • Answer:

The user above is correct. Acad 2007 & 2008 have a "DWG to PDF" function built in. Any version before Acad 2007 will need acrobat standard to create a pdf. However ACAD 2004 and new has a DWF writer integral in the program. This was AutoCADs version of a PDF.

I guess the answer to this question really depends on what version of LT you are running. Anything prior to version 2007 dose not support output to PDF, in which case one of the other answerers replies would be you best option. If, however, you haver version 2007 or 2008 then you can output directly to PDF. I use the full version of Autocad, but I assume the underlying software is common to both programs. So, here is a copy of an answer I have previously posted on this subject: Autocad 2007 comes with a PDF printer. If you click on the file drop down menu and select 'plotter manager' a dialogue box should open. From here choose 'Add-A-Plotter wizard'. You will then be ask to select one of three options - you want the 'My computer' option - then press next. In the next dialogue, look in the 'manufacturers' list and you will see 'Autodesk ePlot (PDF)', select it and click next. The subsequent dialogue is unimportant for this setup, so press next. In the next dialogue make sure the plot to file radio button is checked and press next. the final dialogue allows you to name the plotter - default is 'PDF', then just press next to finish. When you next go to plot your drawing you will be able to select the PDF plotter from the 'printer/plotter' name drop down list. Once you have selected the paper size and any other options you wish to change, just click OK and you will be prompted to define the PDFs file name and location. Hope this helps

You need Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard. Adobe Reader won't do it. Autocad won't do it alone. Get that on your machine and you can convert your .dwg files to PDF.

Autocad isn't able to do it by itself. You can download the "cute .pdf writer". I believe it is free on the web somewhere. It allows you to create .pdf files by "printing" them to memory. It has its idosycrasies, but it works.

You can use "Jaws" pdf creator
