its not just a small engine that will get u cheap insurance, its the cars safety features and security aswell, my first car was a 1993 corsa merit, no air bags, no alarm, no power steering etc, if i were u i would go for something new or newish maybe a 1litre toyota yaris or a vw lupo 1litre, its all ways either german or japanese cars for me. good luck anyway

My Mini is in group 6! No way im gonna be able to afford that!!!! But really, there isnt one car that is the cheapest to insure. Just get an old ish 1 litre or 1.1 or even 1.2. but it will be £1000-£1500 a year

Futurama

something small and old as it will be a lot of money to insure what ever the car.

If I were you I would buy something like a corsa 1.1 or fiesta the smaller size engine will help you..Try and keep to so called english cars like ford or vauxhall, the insurance should be cheaper and the parts are plentifully .Now you will soon have a full driving license now comes the hard part keep that license nice and clean, don't do silly things that's going to cost you megabucks when you go to renew your insurance ,or worse get banned if you win 6 points within 2 years. Its hard work I know but its worth it at the end. I hope this helps you Regards Mac

Your best bet is to obtain a list of vehicles and their categories for insurance purposes. They range from category 1 to 22 and after that become a special quote. Most insurance brokers would be happy to give you a list. Category 1 are the cheapest to insure, so check if there is any vehicle you fancy there, if not go to category 2 and so on. You do not say how old you are, and as you know insurance for under 25's is expensive. When you have a small list of vehicles you 'fancy' go back to the brokers (or on line) and check out the insurance price for each individual type. If you are buying the car for cash, 3rd party only insurance will be the cheapest bet. If you are having to finance the car, consider an insurance that will pay off the finance in the event it is stolen or trashed in accident.

Mini... hmm, not a good option actually. It's better you go for a keicar like Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Rush...

Your insurance quote will vary immensely due to a few variables Where you live Your age Your occupation How many miles you intend to do annually The voluntary excess you are willing to accept Also (and this one is so true) the insurance company you use Check around a lot, use comparison websites and don't be pressurised in to accepting the first quote Good luck
