Why is my video streaming so choppy?

Why can't Google have an option on YouTube or any other video streaming to have an option to shut the video  and listen to audio only?

  • Suppose I am a listening to a speech 40 min long or a lecture or a song, I don't have an interest in the video or and I don't feel the need to wait for the video to buffer, consume my bandwidth and reduce my speed. Can't there be an option where I could shut the video and just listen to audio only? There are still millions of videos that have music with no background. I'm just stating that regardless of whether it's what youtube is meant for, large numbers of people use it this way, and Google could benefit from doing something that would help their customers save bandwidth. It is obvious that Google would have thought about it. So what are the  issues that stopped Google from implementing video shut down feature in youtube?

  • Answer:

Because they are video centric sites where the main element is the video. If what u r thinking is to save on data, you might want to chk out SoundCloud etc. If saving on data is nt ur aim, you can keep the video playing as you work on other apps/software or other websites. That way you can listen to the audio whike doing other work. You may also download youtube video as mp3. Bottomline:People visit youtube for videos. The video streaming site shows ads on videos to generate revenue and hence they will not (tho they can) give us option of audio only.
