How did Suze Orman become a personal finance expert in such a short period of time?

  Read some of Suze Orman's books.  She is very upfront about how she achieved and accomplished so much.  And it wasn't in a short period of time.  While she discusses her early years as a college student and a waitress, she paid her dues with a "major financial investment firm" while learning how NOT to be a great financial adviser.  Orman's financial advice is combined with common sense, humor, and a sassy comeback to stupid comments.  She is smart and is gifted at what she does.  So, how did she "become a personal finance expert in such a short period of time?"  She didn't.  It took time and hard knocks.  Usually, people have only recently found out about Suze Orman so, to them, it's a "short amount of time."
