What is the best way to switch from a software engineer in test role to a software development role?

  • I am a couple years out of school (CS undergrad) from a top CS school, and have worked for well-known startups. I took a software engineer in test role because I greatly believe in the company, but I realized that I want my core work to be in development. Because of severe lack in test infra resources within the company, transitioning to another team will not be an option this year. How do I present myself to other companies as someone who can greatly contribute as a software developer?

Secondly as some one said you get better at coding only by more coding.
