yep... that happened in Iraq.

it certainly does. the adirondack mountains in upper new york state are an excellent example. the lakes are acidic and the trees have discolored from acid rains. in 1977, the anaconda copper mines in flaggstaff, arizona closed... just a few weeks later.. it was revealed that airborne sulfate levels over the adirondacks dropped by more than 30%. anaconda's copper smelter emitted high levels of cuso4, copper sulfate, in high concentrations. due to prevailing winds from the west and a northward funneling of upper winds over the appalachian mountains, much of the sulfate emissions were borne over the adirondack's, mixing with moisture in the rain falling to form a sulfuric acid- cuso4+h2o = h2so4 + cuo-copper oxide precipitant. chlorine gasses when released into the atmosphere, mix with moisture to form hydrochloric acid. both are damaging to the respiratory system and eyes. ingested they cause problems in the water, altering the growth of bacteria and viruses, leaching out any metallic compounds in the area adding to pollutants and toxic health risks

yes, when co2 gets into the atmosphere it combines with water vapour to form carbonic acid

Not all pollution causes acid rain, in industrialized nations such as in Western Europe and Eastern Canada/USA the use in particular of coal and certain unprocessed oil which contains sulphur when burnt turns into SO2. Sulphur dioxide is the main reason for acid rain as it mixes with water vapor and forms a mild sulphuric acid. This in turn fall to earth. However this happens in nature especially after a volcanic eruption, but if enough is burnt and with the right weather can cause quite concentrated amounts, e.g. Pea Fog of London 1952 pH2 - killed alot. But this is only in especially bad cases the biggest problem is long term acid rain, e.g. to the environment where this acid rain collects to form acid lakes e.g. Baltimore, or eroding Marble statues in Rome.

Well every time it rains it is acid rain. Its not pure clean water! There is many different ways ACID can be word. Like there is Acid rain which will not kill us if it rains. granted it does happen from Sulfur dioxiode and nitrogen oxygen which an everyday use from plants and animals as well as humans. Tell ya what read up on it but no it will not kill us...you should be worried about other things killing us then acid rain.
