How do i wire this guitar pickup?

Can i use melted wax to sodder a wire from my pickup to my jack on my guitar instead of melting the wire?

  • i want to put a new jack on my guitar but my friend is boring mr soddering iron can i use melted wax to stick the wire to the plate of the jack instead of melting the wire?

  • Answer:

FIRST OF ALL, YOU DONT MELT A WIRE TO SOLDER A CONNECTION, YOU USE SOLDER. SECOND OF ALL, DON'T MELT WAX TO HOLD CONNECTIONS. My gosh, there are so many things wrong with this question. Wax does not conduct electricity, sure, you can position the wire onto the plate of the jack, but that's a bad idea. The wax can break, the position of the wire may move easily, etc. It's just not a good idea. Go out, get yourself some Rosin-Core Solder from radioshack or something, and solder the wire on with it. and go google for some instructions on how to solder properly since you had to ask this question..

No, wait to get it back from your friend. Wax won't conduct the electricity needed to make it work and will fall apart easily leaving you with a mess.

humbug52

Nah mate, wax isn't conductive so electricity will not flow through it.

get to the gone

No. Wax will first get all over the place. May burn you. Is not glue and does not conduct waves of electricity so will not carry the signal from the jack to the guitar. Use the sauldering iron, it will conduct electricity, and is easier to handle just dont stick it to your skin because it will burn you much much faster then a hot glue gun.

no wax doesn't conduct an Electric current just melt some wire or metal. its Easy as!

no you can't it will not hold, the wax is just not strong enough...honestly think about it, you are going to hold 2 pieces of metal together with a little bit of wax? nope sorry not gonna work

elfin420

Probably not because I doubt wax is a conductor.

TJ K

Absolutely not, wax isn't a conductor. If you don't understand why this is a bad idea then you don't need to be doing your own repair work anyway.
