I'm in a speech class right now and i just did a persuasive speech on immigration laws applying to children and how we need to reform them. here are some other topics from my class: Why we shouldn't be required to take all prerequisites in college. Why there needs to be a better policy on the separate teaching kids with disabilities and the ones with behavioral issues. Why going to music festivals is better then going to separate concerts. Why all middle school kids should play dungeons and dragons. Why social security should be eliminated. Why you should use a natural burial when you die (i.e. turn into a tree, or flower, etc) Why simpson's is better then family guy. Why you should donate blood. on why there should be more laws protecting celebrities on paparazzis (the photographers who take pictures of them for tabloids like when they're out to dinner and stuff) reasons - 1). celebrities' children should not be photographed. example -the mother of heath ledger's wife is constantly photographed out with her daughter especially right after he died. can you imagine how terrible it is too mourn in public?? especially when you are a little child? 2). celebrities get hurt, get into car accidents from the mad rush of paparazzi. Example- Princess Diana's death ...resulted in paparazzi. 3). we, as a society are addicted to celebrity gossip. do we really need to know every last intimate detail about these people's lives, just because they're famous? its unhealthy. we thrive on seeing headlines like "jessica simpson gained 5 pounds!". how silly. and why are we so happy at their misfortunes?

A persuasive speech topic is the best to have, because you get to choose your own hot button topic. Abortion, yes/no, why/why not, war on terror, same approach. How about voting age, is 18 year old voting a waist of a vote? Yes/no, supporting arguments. Choose a topic that gets YOUR attention. When delivering a speech of this type, project your voice to reach the back row, this will show confidence, remember, most of all and most importantly, you are giving information that everyone wants and you are the expert at that moment. Know your speech and topic, just use note cards to jog memory and don't ever read a speech. Reading a speech guarantees raw nerves will show.
