How many subjects do american children in high school study in a day?

Most high schools have 7 or 8 periods a day, with school starting around 8 and ending at 3 (give or take half an hour each way). However, some schools (including mine) do block scheduling. At my school, we have 4 classes each day. We have "A days" and "B days" at our school so we have 8 subjects at a time but only 4 each day. Like other schools in the US on a 'traditional' schedule, schools on block scheduling start around 8 and end around 3.

There are eight periods In a US school day. Or at least that is how it is at my school. I have math, language arts, social studies, and science. The other four are lunch, I take band because I play flute, Gym or Health class. And the last period I have is a class called Maxtap. Its a class for kids that scored highly on a test! So in total i get taught eight different topics a day!

I study 7 but 3 of them are elective (gym, art, and ASL) my school starts at 8:05-3:00 because middle school ends at 2:40 so it saves money on gas to cram us all on buses. I wish it was like the movies but it's probably the same as your school

The students at my son's school have 6 classes and have school from 7:30 to 2:00.
