How do you start an art club at school?

I want to start an art club in my school, how do I go about doing that?

  • I am in my junior year, and would like to start it during my senior year. Who are the key people I need to talk to, and what suggestions do you have?

  • Answer:

Well, an Idea from me is to put up flyers. At my school, flyers always get people interested. And, talk ot some teachers and see if they have any ideas or if you wanted to do the club at school, ask your favorite teacher if you can use their room.

first you need to get enough people who would join and then you have to get permission from alot of teachers like make a petition or something then it would look really good when you presented it to the principal if you got the head of the art committee of your school to sponsor you guys

Basically, the principal should be able to tell you yes or no. Ask him, and if he says yes, ask people you know if they'd be willing to help you so you're not handling it all yourself. And ask a parent or two if they can help, too. Hope is all works out!! I'd love to have an art club at my school!!

Talk to your friends and see if you can get 3-6 friends to get involved and then poot out sign about it.

First, talk to some friends you think would be interested. Then talk to your homeroom teacher for ideas. Then, talk to the teacher that is sort of in charge of art if you know what I mean. If you still feels its necessary, talk to the principal.

well if your school has a art teacher. he/she will be the first one you will want to talk to because you will want to see if they would help you out. and then go to your principle (spell check lol)

CRYSTIZZLE

Talk to an art teacher and organize it....then take the idea to the administration. They will make it official.

Wow, I"m impressed that you want to start an art club for your school! (That's because I'm an art teacher - ) An art club needs to have the blessings of your principal. But before you do that, have everything in writing; make a proposal. So you will have to research a bit: who will sponsor it (yes, ask art teacher but ask other teachers too), where will you have it (art studio? art teacher permission here), when will you have it (school calendar - you don't want conflicts. Be specific about this one, even tell WHAT dates you can meet. Also how long will it meet on any given day), who will be invited to this (whole school I hope), who will sponsor it (get that done before presenting your proposal to the principal) what supplies will you need and how will you raise the money for it (THAT is a biggie! Your art teacher cannot donate supplies for this) and what exactly do you want to accomplish with your club? You will have to write this out carefully - make sure you are doing something to benefit the school (design covers for student books, add art to the hallways, have art exhibits in the main office) Whatever you do in this art club, you will have to produce some good stuff. Will you charge dues? How will that be handled? Most schools have a bookeeper and you are required to give her/him any monies you have that are club related. OK, so now you know that your principal has to see EVERYTHING that has to do with your plan. Leave nothing out. Brainstorm with friends for more info. The more you can tell your principal the more s/he will be (1) impressed with your organization skills, (2) glad that s/he does not have to do this work for you (and most won't by the way), (3) proud to have you as a student at that school. I would also recommend that you look into an Honor Art Society. Google it and see what might be interesting to you. Make art a main force at your school! You are awesome - wish you were my student! Good luck
