What are the best ways to search for jobs?

What are the ways to get an interview with consulting/analytics firms?

  • I am a 22 year old fresh graduate from a reputed Engineering college from Delhi(next to IITs, you will be able to guess). Due to my low percentage I was not able to get a job on campus( adding to the misery, I am a mech student). But i have a really good non-tech(consulting) profile, 4 months internship experience from a reputed advisory firm in strategy and operations. I have sent my resume across to some seniors who believe that my resume is top notch, but the only thing which can be a hindrance is the percentage.  I have tried posting my resume on naukri.com, but the jobs offered are not something I am looking for. I would like to know what ways/sites are there for good consulting/analytics jobs. I am not looking for Top 4 MC firms of course, as I am very well aware, I do not stand a chance. I am good with my cases and guess estimates, but I am not able to score an interview to show it to someone. I would also like to work for a startup, but again, I have no Idea how to. I understand, referrals work the best, but somehow i am not able to get any. What could be some ways to get referrals in such companies too. If someone can answer with an exhaustive list of ways to search for jobs, especially for engineers trying to get into consulting domain.  At this point of total self disgust, I come with some hope from this community to help me out in any way possible. Will be really life saving and helpful for me. P.S- I am very confident of my abilities, my profile( besides the percentage of course) and my college's brand name. It is just that, I do not know how to put it in use and score that interview and eventually that job.

  • Answer:

Companies like Mu-sigma, absolutdata, fractal do not care for your grades so in case you did not sit for these companies on your campus then your expectations are too high. If they did not visit your campus then your college does not even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as IIT-D.The BIG 4 consultancies won't even touch you with a bamboo stick.
