How to measure cache performance?

What website has a free tool that can allow one to measure the stock price performance of growth stocks versus value stocks?

  • When comparing the stock price performance of big caps versus small caps, for example, http://Finviz.com has charts that allow one to view the performance of one relative to the other for various timeframes. You don't even have to log-in for this. Do you know of a free website that contains something analogous to this but for the price performance of growth versus value stocks? Indexes, indicators, stats, anything that can help directly answer this question will do. The simpler the better.

  • Answer:

If you go to http://www.stockcharts.com, and type in $RAG:$RAV in the search bar, next to "Create a Chart", and click Go, you'll have a relative strength chart that compares the Russell 3000 growth index (RAG) against the Russell 3000 value index (RAV). You can change the chart type to a line chart for simplicity, and interpret a rising line as growth stocks outperforming value stocks over the specified timeframe, and vice versa for a falling line. In the screenshot below, I also added a 30 week moving average to help smooth out the trend: In the above example, growth stocks have clearly been outperforming value stocks since late 2014, after a period of underperformance throughout much of 2014. If you wanted to compare the growth and value components of the S&P 500 instead, do the same with IVW and IVE, by creating a chart with the ticker IVW:IVE (S&P 500 growth vs S&P 500 value), interpreting the resulting chart in the same manner.
