Are there any good Indian restaurants in Bangkok?

Are there Indian restaurants in Manhattan, NY that sell south Indian sambar (Indian lentil soup) to go?

  • It is significantly expensive for me to eat in Indian restaurants. I can cook rice in my room using my microwave. So I'm wondering if there is a place where I can buy lentil soup.

  • Answer:

Yes, I believe Pongal and Saravana Bhavan on Lexington do. I think Chola does, but their sambar isn't that great. I would strongly advice against Bhojan too, I hate the food there. Saravana Bhavan is your best bet. Sorry, I can't remember any more off the top off my head as I've never had just sambar to go. Thanks for asking! Might I also suggest making some at home? It would take you all of five minutes and it's very easy in the microwave. I do this: http://www.vegrecipesofindia.com/sambhar-recipe-a-method-made-easy/ Skip step 7, and use microwave instead of a pressure cooker. You can put it in the microwave while you put in rice.

It is my experience that you can get anything in NY. They even have a store that sells only peanut butter sandwiches. Try Yelp, and then call and ask.

Sarvana Bhavan at Lexington is great! There are many restaurants around that place too.  You could also make it at home. The vegetables needed could be gotten from an Indian store/ They sell frozen sambar veggies --all in one pack.
