Does Dev Bootcamp accept applicants who already have jobs, but are looking for training in web development?

I have a job I love, and both I and the company I work for would benefit from me learning web development. If I did apply to Dev Bootcamp, I would not be looking for a job placement afterwards. How would this affect my chance of acceptance?

Answer:
Disclaimer I co-founded with and and was responsible for authoring and editing virtually all of DBC's curriculum while I was there (among other things). However, I left in August, 2013 and no longer have any formal or informal affiliation with the company whatsoever. Absolutely, positively, do not assume what I've written below is still accurate â make sure you ask DBC and any other programs you're interested in directly! Attending a programming bootcamp is too big a commitment to not be diligent with your research. That said, everything below still reflects my personal ideals as an educator and entrepreneur, and I'm working hard to embody them in my new project (http://codeunion.io) as thoroughly as I embodied them at . If you have any questions about this note or anything below, feel free to email me at and I'll be happy to talk more. :) Original answer Short Version Yes, we do, so long as you're willing to go "all in." We try to set expectations and DBC is intense, so your post-DBC plans definitely figure into our admissions interview. It goes directly to a students' motivations and expectations. Longer Version We're committed to graduating world-class junior engineers, which means that we can't be all things to all people. We want to get a really good sense of why you're coming to DBC, how well you understand what our mission is, and how well we'd be able to serve you. From what you've said, it sounds like this aligns well. We've had students return to companies they came from as web developers. That said, your post-DBC plans definitely figure into this conversation. For example, will your employer be frustrated if we teach a technology stack they themselves don't employ? Do you have the expectation that we would? It'd be easy for us to blithely say we don't take it into consideration in the hopes that we'd get you to apply, but the truth is we've found that it matters. It goes directly to a students' motivations and expectations. For example, one issue we've had with students who have specific post-graduation plans is that they want every second of their day at DBC to obviously align with their post-DBC plans. This will become a source of friction over the course of the 9 weeks whether we took it into consideration or not.

While I don't have intimate knowledge of how DBC handles this, we (http://hackreactor.com) do not consider your post-graduation plans in our application process, although we do our best to guide you towards what we feel would be good next steps for your career. In general, immersive programming schools do receive referral revenue from "in-network" companies that hire their graduates, so be aware that there is an incentive there.
