Will my charger work in India?

Gadgets & Technologies: What do I need to charge my laptop bought in the US in India, a Voltage Converter or a Socket Plug Adaptor?

  • I just got a Dell laptop imported from the USA. Info on charger (Input: AC 100-240V ~1.5V; Output:DC 19.5V). So, do I need to buy a voltage converter or should I use a socket plug adaptor? Which would make it work in India without harming it?

  • Answer:

A socket adaptor which doesn't convert voltage is good enough, as we have 220 V AC power in India. Everywhere except in Indian trains, that is, where it's 110 V, and it's common for people to use their 100 V - 240 V chargers at homes/offices, and in trains.

Just a socket adapter will do. Don't worry current laptop are all equipped with best power supply. Don't even be talked into buying a stabilizer - you definitely don't need one.I have seen many technicians in India pushing Stabilizer quoting irregular power in India will kill the equipment-balder dash!
