How does weather affect a restaurant? Do number of customers visiting a restaurant decrease (even by 20%) during rainy season? Where can I get data on number of customers visiting some sample restaurants?

I believe there is some correlation between restaurant order quantities, order types and weather. I would like to quantify it. Also, please tell me if food is wasted if you don't know the weather in advance. While I am interested in all countries, I am specifically looking for information on USA and India.

Answer:
We had good friends that had an extremely popular restaurant, before it was bought out. They told us, the colder it is, the busier it is. (this is winter in the North) And it's true. If you want to go out on a weekend night, and it's -30C, and you don't have a reservation, you are not getting in without a long wait. It would seem counter intuitive, thinking that people wouldn't want to go out, but that's not the way it works where I'm from.
