Mercedes has the best answer so far: we have insufficient evidence to determine whether sapiens ate neanderthals. I would say that the evidence is such to rule out sapiens eating neanderthal as widespread behavior. Sapiens did not view neanderthals as a prey animal. If that were the case. the evidence would be much more widespread, considering the tens of thousands of years of contact. Also, if sapiens routinely viewed neanderthals as prey, non-African sapiens would not have 1–4% of their genome from neanderthals. You don’t mate with and have children with prey!(BTW, I am using the term “sapiens” (short for Homo sapiens) instead of “human” because anthropologists call every member of genus Homo “human”. So H. neanderthalis is also “human”.Your question originates in a theory proposed by researchers in Spain:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2333449/Did-eat-Neanderthals-Dramatic-new-theory-claims-devoured-early-man.html with a YouTube video:It’s a dramatic theory (and some scientists love being dramatic), but the evidence is sketchy.http://www.livescience.com/37130-did-humans-eat-neanderthals.html “No clear evidence suggests modern humans ate Neanderthals, much less that they did so enough to drive Neanderthals to extinction, despite recent claims from scientists in Spain.”

Some Neanderthal bones have shown obvious tool marks, as distinct from the marks of predator teeth.http://www.archaeology.org/news/3204-150414-france-neanderthal-boneshttp://australianmuseum.net.au/homo-neanderthalensishttp://www.agenciasinc.es/en/News/Neanderthals-manipulated-the-bodies-of-adults-and-children-shortly-after-deathWhether this was the result of Homo sapiens eating them, the Neanderthals themselves eating them, or some other reason, it is impossible to tell.

I think the answer to your question has already been covered in the response to this question: There is no evidence that early humans practiced cannabalism.

Humans of the dark ages, medieval ages did eat other humans. E.g. When Genghis Khan invaded/seiged Beijing, cut-off their food supplies, chinese were forced to eat the dying ones.Human might ate the Neanderthals. But whether they endangered and extinct the neanderthals, is not very clear.Evolving/advancing humans/homo-sapiens might extinct the senior/less-advanced humans/homo-sapiens, homo erectus, neanderthal, etc.In Hindi, there is statement/warning/sentence, “Sale mein tera khoon pi jaunga” meaning “i will drink your blood”. After that what was done to the bloodless half/full dead. Cooked and eaten by the predator Indian human?Much of the Indian history has/had been veiled and concealed from modern Indian nationals.
