Recently, New York Magazine ran an expose on New York City's Demographics Unit, a special division of the NYPD devoted to mass surveillance, infiltration, and documentation of activist organizations and minority communities. http://nymag.com/news/features/nypd-demographics-unit-2013-9/ We know Palantir is used by NYC and the NYPD. Does Palantir provide assistance with the Demographics Unit's operations? Are Palantir products deployed in support of this, or similar, attempts by the NYPD to compile mass databases on the activities of citizens not suspected of any crime?
