How do you find a flat in Bangalore?

How can someone find housing (PG or flat to rent) in Bangalore?

  • I will be relocating to Bangalore in July to work in a company. The company's office is on Outer Ring Road between Kormangala and Marathali. I'm looking for a flat to rent or a PG. Can you guys suggest some good ways of finding these? Some websites perhaps? My budget is Rs. 15k per month. Thanks in advance!

If you know somebody in your company, you can just ask them or the HR department for suggestions. A lot of your future colleagues will have a good idea about it and will probably want to help you too. Otherwise, it's best to visit the areas where you want and take a stroll. As Santhosh said, talk to small shop owners. Take a look at the pamphlets on trees and electricity poles. I've seen a lot of advertisements about PGs on the  trees on the side of the road. Good luck!

If I were you, I would decide the area in which I want to live. Visit the nearby petty shop to get a copy of the classifieds and find it from there. You have sites like http://asklaila.com , http://bangalore.quikr.com/. But I'm not sure how good they are in this case.

My 2 cents: Trying to find a 1BHK in an apartment complex is futile. 2BHKs in complexes are all above 25k. Try Common Floor - http://commonfloor.com http://Housing.co.in (Housing . http://co.in) is good as well. But common floor seems to have more results. What I have been doing is roaming around different localities and looking for good apartment complexes, then searching for flats on CommonFloor using the name of the complex. Most times I do find something that I like. For your office location, both Koramangala (expensive) and Marathahalli (a little remote) would be convenient; there are lots of Volvo buses on the Ring road between Koramangala and Marathahalli that stop at the IT parks in between. So both places would be good travel-wise. And as others suggested, best bet is to come here, roam around, look for ads on trees/poles/roads, check with brokers...

Hi there, I had the same question as you 1 year ago but pity Quora wasn't their that time :( Well like Santhosh said, pick any good residential area their to live and start searching for rented places their on quicker, 99acres or sulekha. You can find adds their from both the owner himself and also from the brokers. The brokers would charge you one months rent as their fee, so you can choose among the adds from owners themselves and call them. On thing to be careful here is adds from the owners their are generally old, so sort them by the posted date. Or once you came to bangalore try any broker(you would lots of brokers here) and they would show you the houses. But again the one months fee comes into the picture.

When looking for a flat, it is extremely important for you to check the expenses that you may incur in the whole process. I learnt that the hard way myself. Expenses include the broker's fee, traveling cost and also the time and efforts that you put in while house hunting. However, nowadays many apps and sites make it easier and flexible for us to find a suitable place. Here is a great app to get you started. https://www.flatchat.com/ helps you find your potential roommate on the go. It lets people looking for a place and people looking for flatmates to chat with each other by matching them according to their requirements. How that helps? Well another important factor is "whom" you are going to share the flat with and Flatchat matches you with people according to your needs with whom you can chat with and eventually take it ahead. Another handy feature is the ‘Flatchat assistant’ who will be your one point of contact and will be personally assisting you for any requirement you may have. So to find your dream apartment hassle free, I suggest you to try Flatchat.

Finding   a house for rent in Bangalore is not an easy job. It involves searching   online on different portals, house hunting offline with agents/landlords,   doing paperwork in stamping offices, etc. TheHouseMonk (http://www.thehousemonk.com)   is a real estate startup which makes it easier to find a flat for rent in   Bangalore. You can log onto the website, see all their listings and schedule   visits to them. Post this, they’ll get one of their agents to show you the   house in person. Once you like a property, they take care of the paper work   as well! P.S. I'm the Co-Founder of TheHouseMonk
