What are the best local search blogs?

What is a good source/method to search for blogs based on more than their name, meaning at least some short description?

• Specifically, I'm reading some "Mom Blogs" that I find really interesting and I would love to find some which are similar to them in some aspects but not similar in other aspects (which means that trying to peruse the bloggers' blogroll is not too helpful. I tried :))

  Some of the ways to discover new ways to discover more blogs in similar niche are 1) Look for directories/list posts - Often web directories have listings by category. For example, Technorati lists all blogs that deal with finance, business etc. So you might be able to find a 'Mom Blog' categories. Alternatively, search Google for 'Best Mom Bloggers' and you should be able to find some good blogs in that category 2) Search for keywords and phrases that you would expect to find on your favorite mom blogs. Chances are that good blogs in the category are SEO optimized and content from their blogs will always pop up in the search results 3) Explore their network: Good Mom blogs have a huge network. So, check through the comments of existing blogs that you follow, go to their twitter feed and see who they are talking to. There is a good chance you will find another mom blogs
