How is decay handled in Reddit?
-
In Reddit items are ranked by users quite clearly (public upvote and downvote) yet items decay over time (bias for novelty). Quickly searching through the public repository of the website (on Github https://github.com/reddit/reddit/blob/master/r2/r2/models/listing.py ) didn't provide much insight. How does ranking get affected by how old a link is on Reddit?

Answer:
A single downvote on a new thread means your thread goes from the hot to new column. An excess of 5 downvotes means it dissapears completely.
