How do you shut down Chrome OS?

Isn't Chrome OS better off on tablets and smartphones?

  • V8 and webkit are now the leading standards in web development! Google is  putting in so much effort on Chrome and Chrome OS! So many new entrants are trying HTML5 as main tech on mobile B2G, Tizen and even Windows 8 metro dev is all about HTML5, that too in an area where Google should be ruling. [I have no hopes from Apple, they just wanted to kill flash and keep everything native and closed] Chrome is the fastest browser in adopting modern HTML5 specs and implementing them in their browser [microphone + webcam, webRTC,WebGL and even NaCl ] and the limited things Chrome OS can do on a proper PC, isn't it better suited for smartphones and tablets ? [Considering we have so many apps on Chrome webstore, much more than there are on Windows market!]

  • Answer:

I live in a world where Internet connections are slow and unreliable – hence I'm more keen to applications that can work offline. When Hotmail first came out, I didn't use it and still prefer POP3 email providers instead since I had to use dial-up and need to minimize my time online. Granted there are people who only need computers for GMail and Facebook and thus a low-end web-browser appliance can be useful. But Android already provide such experience on lower-powered devices than what currently powers the Chromebook. Hence probably Google should focus on more to make Android better when used with a trackpad&keyboard and merge Chrome OS into Android.
