How do I use Microsoft Word to open a Google Drive cloud document?

Does Google (company) plan to enable accessing Google Scholar within Google Docs and Drive to write scientific papers with citations?

  • I find to be an amazing way to write and share drafts of scientific papers with multiple authors. I also use extensively to search and retrieve papers and citations. What I'm having to do ultimately is to import the final text into (or ) and the final set of references into (or ) and compose the final draft. Given already has these amazing products in place, I thought it might be great if they allowed them to talk to each other.

  • Answer:

Its there. You should try using the 'Research' feature under Tools menu in Google Docs. For example, in a new document, I can type "training induced changes in gray matter", select this text, and click on Tools->Research menu. It opens up the Research panel in which you can see the top result, "Draganski, Bogdan et al. "Neuroplasticity: changes in grey matter induced by training." Nature427.6972 (2004): 311-312", followed by two buttons: Cite as footnote and Insert. You can click on those buttons and they will do what you think they should :) Feel free to provide feedback using the Help->Report an Issue menu.
