Why India and Pakistan have two separate Independence Day in spite both countries (British India) got independence on same day?

This one is interesting... As many might know that the independence of India and Pakistan was announced on the midnight of 14th August 1947, with the Act 1947 stating "As from the fifteenth day of August, nineteen hundred and forty-seven,  two independent Dominions shall be set up in India, to be known  respectively as India and Pakistan" As a matter of fact, Pakistan celebrated its first independence on 15th of August. Even the first commemorative postage stamp of the country that was  released a year later stated 15 August 1947 as the independence day of  Pakistan. But then why Pakistan celebrates their independence on 14th of August? Here is an interesting co-incidence. The midnight of independence (midnight, August 14,1947) coincided with 27 Ramadan 1366 of the Islamic calendar, which is regarded as a sacred night by Muslims. So, in the year 1948, Pakistan decided to advance their date of independence by one day to August 14.

It has to do with the time when independence was announced in both countries and when the handover ceremonies for transfer of power were conducted. Ceremonies for both countries happened at midnight of 14-15 August. The Pakistan ceremony happened earlier, before 0000 hrs, while Indian ceremony was second.
